Payment
Pay in full by October 31 and save 5%, or split it into six monthly payments.
What every plan includes
- October 15 to April 15 · Unlimited clearings at a 5 cm trigger
- Windrow clearing — the ridge the City plow leaves across your driveway
- Front public sidewalk — keeps you inside the City's 24-hour sidewalk bylaw
- Cleared to full width every visit, banks pushed back so your driveway doesn't shrink over winter
- Composite and front-entry decks hand-cleared with poly-edged shovels — nothing metal on composite
- Fully insured — $5M liability.
Season plan or per-visit: which costs less?
Divide the season price by the per-visit price for the same driveway: The season plan pays for itself by about the 11th clearing (12th on a single). Every clearing after that is effectively free on a season plan.
How many clearings a winter brings is the part nobody controls. Grande Prairie averages 162.2 cm of snow a year across about 56 days with measurable snowfall (Environment and Climate Change Canada, Canadian Climate Normals 1991–2020, Grande Prairie A). The City plows residential streets once more than 10 cm has accumulated, on a two-week A/B rotation, and each pass leaves a fresh windrow at the end of your driveway (City of Grande Prairie, Snow clearing). For the full City schedule, see what the City clears and when.
What changes the price — and what doesn't
Changes it:
- Driveway size — single, double or triple.
- An acreage, or a long or circular drive — these are quoted.
- Extra paths, such as a back deck to the garage — $175/season or $25/visit, plus GST.
- Pet-safe de-icing — $249/season or $45/visit, plus GST.
Doesn't change it: the number of snowfalls. A season plan is one flat price with unlimited clearings at a 5 cm trigger, whether the winter is light or heavy.
